This diary will take you across the border from Uzbekistan into Afghanistan, down the road into Mazar-e-Sharif, fly you to Kabul and show you the women, men, boys and girls I’m meeting, it will bring you their lives, what they say and think, what they eat and drink, what they want you to know, too. We won’t stay just here. There’s Baghdad, Tehran, Islamabad just over there. There’s Istanbul, Basra. There’s Khartoum. Come along. Get in touch if you like. Maybe we’re in the same place, maybe you want to visit. I speak English, Punjabi, Hindi/Urdu conversationally, basic Arabic (Levantine) and am learning bits of Pashto and Dari while here, so you’ll see words and phrases I’ve picked up.
